I gasped out loud when we got home and began uploading the photos we took at Lisa and Tommy’s wedding. We had photographed just over 5,000 images that day! We normally photograph somewhere between 3,000 and 4,000 images between the two of us and although I was sticker shocked when I saw that huge number of photos – I wasn’t surprised.
There were sweet little elements, tons of laughs, and so much action hiding around every corner of this wedding held at the “Take it to the Limit” Event home in South Nags Head. Lisa selected beautiful blushes and gold tones for her day and together they chose to have a hint of a theme reflecting their passion for vegan food!
The cutest little gold animal figurines held the escort cards and embellished many of their tables. They also gave beautiful recipe books compiled of their favorite vegan meals! Dawn’s Kitchen Catering served a fabulous vegan meal for the evening and lastly, on each reception table they had fun fact cards about the learning capabilities of the animals we eat (I had no idea cows can remember the faces of 100 other cows!?)
I loved how Lisa and Tommy chose something that they were passionate about together to highlight in their wedding. Among those unique elements of their day were also traditional Jewish celebrations that they incorporated to honor Tommy’s Jewish heritage! Their grandfathers signed a Katuba with them, they said their vows under a lace covered chuppah, they broke glass together before the first kiss, the male guests wore kippahs, and the coolest?! They did the Hora – a dance where guests lift them both up in chairs and dance around them in a circle!! It was SO cool!
Jerry and I have never seen a more active and involved group of guests taking every chance they could find to bring joy and laughs to this couple whom they love so much. Lisa’s father officiated the service and surprised them both with a hilarious rendition of a song he had written. Without anyone knowing his plan, he had the bride, groom and bridal party sing along to it during the ceremony! Oh how I would love to have a recording of that song. Everyone sang lovely, of course, but Tommy – he has a voice for the record books, lol! (#youhadtobethere!)
The bridesmaids also wrote a song to sing to the Lisa and Tommy during the ladies toast of the night and … the icing on the cake … the groomsmen and Tommy choreographed a dance reminiscent of something you’d see from the Backstreet Boys to present to Lisa during the reception. Everyone in the room was rolling over their dance. I overheard the guys standing next to me say “I hope this NEVER ends!” … I was hoping the same thing!
Lisa and Tommy’s wedding was the second of a double-header weekend for us – our first double-head ever and we are so thrilled that our first double header ended on such a fun and beautiful note!
