Field to Vase Boho Wedding Inspiration | North Carolina

Did you see our feature on Green Wedding Shoes!?!?  Yall.  If you don’t follow the wedding industry and fully understand how incredibly HUGE that is, let me start by remembering the tears that fell from my eyes when I received the ‘congratulations’ email from GWS accepting our shoot for feature.  It meant that much. See, like most creatives I have a ‘bucket list’ of publications that I drool over and would love to be featured on at least once in my career, and although there are still more on that list that I’d love to be a part of, Green Wedding Shoes was at the TOP. The number one. Numero Uno.

In all honesty?  I totally didn’t think that I would ever have something amazing enough to be featured there! But the planets aligned and with the out of this world amazing help of some other incredible vendors, we were able to create something we were passionate about that resonated through to the editors at GWS.  We are honored beyond words that this creation we put months of thought and preparation and our souls into making come to life was valued as highly to these talented editors as we valued it!

How it came to life?

I had asked our besties Heather and Jared (of the outstanding Heather & Jared Photography!!) to model for our styled shoot because I knew their love for each other – I knew how absolutely smitten they are on each other and I knew that they would hold nothing back in front of the lens…. Plus? duh.. they are gorgeous.  And they were a perfect fit for our plans!  …And then we found out that our scheduled shoot fell on the weekend of their 7th wedding anniversary, and our plans got even sweeter!

They were so excited about being able to celebrate their anniversary with a wedding styled shoot.. not only because it would be lovely – but because they never had wedding photos.  They never had a wedding at all!  As young sweethearts in love, they said their vows to each other in a courthouse in Sacramento, CA while Jared was stationed there with the Coast Guard.

So having the opportunity for them to finally be able to have some wedding photos together was incredibly meaningful to them and and when I found out the depth of how special this was to them, it just sent me over the moon to be able to give them something so perfect for their anniversary!

Our passion!

Our passion for this shoot was to use everything that is in seasonal bloom right here in our area of North Eastern NC.  I enlisted the help of Floral Designer, Yeopim Flowers with this shoot because on her farm she grows the most beautiful flower patch each year to fulfill many of her weddings and events; straight from her field to the vase!  Her work is lovely and I admire her ability to use everything that grows naturally (in her flower patch or in her woods!) with her designs.

You may have seen Sybil’s Market Bouquet’s being advertised on her facebook and mine (and a couple of my blog posts here and here!) and every. single. flower. from this shoot was one of her home-grown market stems!  Our main objective with this shoot was to showcase just one of the trillions of ways her market flowers could be used in the context of a wedding!  We want to encourage brides who perhaps have a smaller budget for floral design to look into the more economical option of purchasing Sybil’s stems and going frolickin’ through the woods for filler.. Then DIY’ing yourself some super sweet unique arrangements for your wedding.  Go this route before writing off having fresh florals at all, or going with the usual hydrangea + baby’s breath.. make your wedding as unique as you are!!!

What we used:

For this shoot we chose to use brass candlestick holders (gathered from thrift stores) filled with Sybil’s Market flowers down the table, with a simple hanging flower chandelier above the home-made pallet table.  The table scape was adorned with grapevines, local peaches and figs, wheat and pheasant feathers.

To honor Heather and Jared’s anniversary, they wore copper wedding bands from Mountain Ursus Designs to signify the traditional spousal gift on the 7th anniversary. Copper couplings from the plumbing section at Lowes were used as the rings holding the denim fabric napkins on the place settings and the silverware was such a special addition – they belonged to Jared’s grandmother!  ..And the white dishes?  They were simply from Walmart :-)

The beautiful gold accented cake was created by the talented chefs at the local Inner Banks Inn and adorned with fresh basil, flowers and figs straight from their own backyard.

The icing on the cake for our shoot was the dreamy Grace Loves Lace wedding gown and Black Eyed Susan flower crown that Heather wore (you may recall seeing that wedding dress on ME for my wedding earlier in April!)  We even got to play with a stunning floral boa that Sybil created for us too!

Every inch of the day was a dream come true – from the organic decor, to the genuine love between Heather and Jared, to the most spectacular late evening light that filtered through the trees, all the way to it’s feature on Green Wedding Shoes!

We couldn’t be happier that this styled-shoot-turned-anniversary-shoot gave us a way to share our passion for all things organic and beautiful and meaningful and to inspire brides to look no further than your own local backyard to create beautiful and unique elements for your day!

admin - Hi Laura! Thank you so much for viewing our post! Unfortunately this location is on the private property of Yeopim Flowers Flower Farm which is not currently a venue open for bookings. It’s lovely though isn’t it?! I’ve been trying to convince her to consider that one day ;-)ReplyCancel
