Michael and Kortni planned their wedding in 30 days. You read that right – THIRTY days! Any of you who have ever played a roll in planning a wedding, please join me in a standing ovation for this couple! That is one heck of an accomplishment and I am so happy to say the day went perfectly.
Michael comes from a pretty special family. His mother, Victoria and Step Father, Junior were my very first wedding couple! I photographed their wedding in 2008 which, unbeknownst to me at the time, would be the kickoff God had been planning for a new career. We joke now about how wayyyy … ummm… different.. my photographs of their wedding are to what I take now (lol!) but we fully plan to remedy that this June as we are cooking up a special shoot for them to celebrate their 10 year anniversary, which means the 10 year anniversary of my wedding business as well! It will be fun!
But needless to say when Mike asked if we could photograph their wedding, I was all over it. I knew he and Kortni had been together for a while now and had the most adorable son, Chase (who I got to photograph as a teeny newborn, too!) and I was thrilled they were planning to make their union as a family official.
January 13 was a chilly, windy day but at least that crazy snow and single digit temperatures from the week prior had passed just in time for them! We shivered through a first look to start their afternoon and went straight into an intimate wedding in the backyard of one of their friends. They were surrounded by their family and closest friends as they exchanged vows. Directly after the ceremony they had their first dance surrounded by sparklers! We’ve seen a sparkler first dance one other time and it makes that moment so romantic and special! Afterwards everyone gathered inside with Pizza and Wings and a whole lotta love for the brand new Mr. & Mrs. Austin.
I’m so glad we got to share in yet another special moment with this family and look forward to SO many more in the future!
