Can you imagine if finding your soulmate was determined by a T-shirt that you decided to wear one day?
I think we all have little things in our love stories that we can say were the tiny pieces that fell exactly into place which allowed us to find our true loves! For Laura and Sam, that tiny little puzzle piece was the T-shirt Sam decided to pull out of his drawer one day in 2010.
Laura and Sam actually spent their entire lives living less than a mile away but never knowing each other. They went to the same schools, knew some of the same people, some of their families attended church together, their Moms even worked together for a short time in the 90’s! Yet it was never the right time in their lives to meet until an early July day in 2010 as Laura was poolside visiting with her girlfriends at UNCG and Sam happened to be visiting the same pool hanging out with his friends who, luckily for Sam and Laura, were mutual friends of each other :)
Sam picked out his Char Grill shirt that day. Char Grill is a restaurant chain only in Raleigh and when Laura saw his shirt it sparked conversation about where he was from. From that point on, they went down the list of their connections to Raleigh, learned how crazy close they were to each other without having any idea, and their friendship began that day.
They started dating officially on October 15, 2010 and on their anniversary, 6 years later, they said their vows to each other on October 15, 2016. I’d say that’s a pretty fantastic date to plan for a wedding, don’t you!?
Their wedding day was simple and lovely and focused on what matters most – their family and friends. One of the many gestures they used to incorporate their appreciation for their family was their rings. Laura’s engagement ring was her grandmother’s and Sam wore his grandfather’s wedding band!
We began our day at the beautiful Mulberry Hill Inn in Edenton and then headed over to The Links at Mulberry Hill for their sunset ceremony overlooking the Albemarle Sound. We are grateful that we were able to add this lovely wedding to our calendar this year and we wish the brand new Mr. & Mrs. Mason the happiest of marriages together!
