Meet Hannah and Raja. They are both Lebanese, yet they grew up thousands of miles away from each other. Hannah grew up in Charlotte, NC and Raja was raised overseas in the country of Lebanon.
So how did they meet?? On somewhat of a whim, Hannah decided after graduating art school here in Charlotte to move to her family’s homeland of Lebanon and pursue art making there. She wasn’t able to find the right materials to advance her art career when she arrived but what she did find was a temporary English teaching job to sustain her while she was working on her art career.
Unbeknownst to Hannah, this job was the one God had intended for her to take all along. As luck would have it, one of the teachers Hannah befriended at the school just moved in with a roommate who, upon meeting Hannah, insisted that she meet a friend of hers because they shared the same faith, same sense of humor, and even American accent :)
His name was Raja.
In the words of Hannah she said they met first on a group outing, then went out only a couple times after that “and then decided hey, we’re probably going to get married!” (When you know, you know right?! So after 3 months they were tamamna (thank you Hannah for the Arabic lesson! .. It means they were officially seeing each other!). After Hannah’s time ended in Lebanon she moved back to the states and Raja moved here to be with her a year later. And here we are! Celebrating their marriage!
Hannah’s experienced artistic talent was all over their wedding day at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden just outside Charlotte, NC. Without wanting to feel ‘fallish’ or ‘christmas-y’ she chose the most graceful hues of deep mauves and burgundys and reds and highlighted them with elegant splashes of peach and lavender.
Her floral design? SHE DESIGNED IT. All of it. From her bouquets to the boutonnieres to the table and ceremony arrangements. She DIY’d every inch of it and I could not believe the talent for wedding design that lay within this chick! I think we should see Hannah Reslan Wedding Design going into business really soon and I want to photograph all her weddings.. I got dibs ;-)
This wedding was the final event on our 20 wedding calendar this year. It has been an incredible year full of amazingly gorgeous people, inside and out. We have documented so much love and laughter this 2016 and we can’t wait to do it all over again in 2017!
I must say that this wedding couldn’t have been a more perfect way to close out our wedding year. I’m also pretty stoked that these killer images will be the landing page for our blog all the way through the holidays ;-)
Happy marriage Mr. & Mrs. Reslan!!
