Edenton NC Wedding Photographer | Anniversary Session | The Kaylor’s

I contacted Serena last summer to ask if she and Austin would model for me for a session I wanted to shoot for a project I was working on.  I told her roughly what I wanted to do – sort of vintage y, picnic style, etc. and boy did she deliver!! She came prepared with so many awesome props, outfits, and ideas!  It was seriously a photographers dream come true!

So earlier this year when she contacted me to set up a session to celebrate their 4th wedding anniversary I was doing my happy dance! I knew how wonderfully creative she is and how refreshing it is to have a client come to me with their own unique ideas! Ideas that compliment THEM as a couple or family.  I try really hard to scout locations and offer guidance as to setting up sessions for my clients based around their style but it’s always MUCH easier for me if my clients give ME guidance as to what they’d like to see from their session.  Serena would send me pictures of the outfits she’s planning, the (AH-MAZING) shoes she was going to wear and props that she had ordered from Etsy.  In doing this, I could start to pre-visualize what our session was going to look like and get some ideas flowing in my head of the best way to shoot the session.

If you want to stylize your session to fit a particular look or “theme”, I’m all for it!  Start pinning images that you dig to your Pinterest, send me links to outfits or color combos that catch your eye, do some shopping for unique, inexpensive props on Etsy.com, and start looking around for locations that fit your style.  I’m seriously open to just about ANYTHING! And my creative juices depend on having new and different styles to work with.  If I photographed the same thing, day in and day out, I’d run out of steam, FAST! Give me a challenge :)

Ok, so Serena told me she wanted to bring along her wedding dress for a couple photos at the end of their session which was fine….. except that my bridal mojo was JUST starting to rock and roll when the sun was going down and I couldn’t feel my fingers anymore from the cold!  I anticipate you’ll be seeing more of Serena in her wedding dress later this year….. I gotta finish this bridal session!
